1. Quinta Da Comporta – Comporta, Portugal
One hour South of Lisbon lies Comporta. Quinta Da Comporta sits on land previously owned by a wealthy banking family. The style of this property blends seamlessly with its surroundings. The palette is neutral in color, many items you see around the hotel are handmade by local artisans. The property notes that some of the materials like the wood, wicker & stones used have been salvaged from the surrounding area. The look of the hotel is clean and simple but it doesn’t lack personality.
2. South Congress Hotel – Austin, Texas
Communal and inviting are a couple of words to describe the lobby and in-take area at the South Congress Hotel in Austin. If that’s not home goals, we don’t know what is. The use of wood throughout the hotel & its rooms gives the hotel a rustic but warm feel. The addition of tile accent walls and the concrete ceilings pulls in a much-needed edge. The cushy sofas in the hotel’s suites make it that much harder to leave.
3. Maison de la Luz – New Orleans, Louisiana
Not necessarily a stand-alone boutique hotel, Maison de la Luz is part of the Ace Hotel Group but has such a lovely, boutique feel. It is described as, “a lighthouse for the senses, reverent of elegance, irreverent of convention…”. The hotel is a breath of fresh air, a beautiful addition much needed in NOLA. Small, Kitch-y additions make the hotel feel like home. They refer to the property as a “guesthouse”. A place in the middle of the usual hectic surroundings to retreat.
4. The Cotton House – Barcelona, Spain
The former headquarters of Barcelona’s Cotton Textile Foundation, The Cotton House Hotel combines a particular mix of industrial, vintage, and traditional in a way that’s enchanting. Our favorite elements are the tiled floors, framed hand-drawn photos in the Vichy Suite, and the plushy furniture seen throughout the hotel. At the Cotton House, it really feels like home, each area of the hotel has a story to tell.
5. Hotel Dylan – Woodstock, New York
Positioned at the base of Overlook Mountain, Hotel Dylan is a newly expanded, 22 room property in Woodstock. One of the most recognized towns in the United States, Hotel Dylan draws inspiration from Woodstock’s hippie history in a way that’s charming and not too predictable. The bedrooms are outfitted with floral wallpapered accent walls and beautiful dark wood furniture from the bed frames, to the desks and to the bathroom vanities. The brightly colored accent chairs are one of our favorite features. It wouldn’t be Woodstock without the music component. Many rooms feature record players and tasteful photos of artists and in the summer you can catch live music over a bonfire.
