Whenever people travel, many come back exhausted, begging for the sleep they avoided and the relaxation they convinced themselves they didn’t need. “I need another vacation already!”

I recently took a trip to Barcelona for a few days to visit a friend and boy was the vacation after the vacation needed after the eating, drinking, dancing, and the 95-degree Spanish heat. I was exhausted! Luckily, I had enough forethought to build that into my itinerary this time around with a two-day trip to Palma de Mallorca after my 3-day whirlwind through Barcelona.

I considered a few hotels in the city but ultimately landed on Hotel Convent de la Missio, a former convent and a place were monks still practice to this day, located in Mallorca’s Old Town. It’s located on a quiet street but perfectly placed so that everything was very easy to walk to. I chose this hotel because of its interesting history and of course, the location.

The perfect location

The Pros

  • Perfect location for shopping, eating, and getting lost in winding streets
  • Simple, minimal decor. Very fresh and clean
  • Amazing rain shower and soft slippers, which I brought home
  • Helpful and attentive staff
  • A beautiful rooftop area for lounging, made perfect with a plunge pool
  • Access to the sauna and indoor whirlpool at their wellness spa
  • Cute turndown service which involved gummy candy and the next day’s forecast
  • Marc Frosh, the only Michelin rated restaurant in tow
Almost perfect

The Cons

The room service left little to be desired and there was not much of a mini bar to raid

Overall

I had a lovely stay in Mallorca, what some may see as boring, I saw as well needed.

A great city for people-watching, for discovering artists, for live music, for shopping, and for food. Beautiful parks to relax & read in and even more beautiful beaches. Convent de la Missio was the perfect place for me to retreat to when my feet decided they couldn’t take the cobblestone streets anymore or when I simply needed a nap. Naps are okay on the vacation after the vacation, you know.

I would definitely recommend Convent de la Missio to anyone traveling to Palma de Mallorca who is looking for simple, clean, and inviting accommodations.
